Yamaha Play for Keeps Courses
There are two courses available and both courses teach keyboard and piano skills all the way to Grade 8 level. Students learn in a fun environment on state of the art Yamaha Keyboards.
JUNIOR PLAY FOR KEEPS - AGE 6-7
JPFK is a keyboard course open to beginners aged between 6 and 7 and is designed to take the student to an intermediate level.
In this course we believe that a fun approach to learning music is important. We achieve this through listening, singing and reading activities.
Course material consists of a series of themed text books designed to appeal to children of this age. Using these, the student gains a thorough understanding of music and keyboard fundamentals.
Having completed the course they will be able to operate a keyboard with confidence and with a good technique.
PLAY FOR KEEPS - AGE 8-ADULT
The PFK course is a keyboard course open to anyone aged 8 or over, and is a great way to learn to play the keyboard in a fun and creative environment. With a recently update to the course, students can expect to learn well known popular songs ranging from songs by Sam Smith, Bruno Mars and The Killers to more classical songs such as Canon alongside original compositions, all included to teach a wide range of skills and styles of playing.
Students develop both solo and band-playing disciplines, and creative development is encouraged as the student will learn to arrange music in their own style.
We teach both keyboard-style and piano-style solo techniques, and music notation, theory and aural skills are all taught in conjunction with the practical skills.
With an optional Examination Syllabus with Rock School (RSL awards) for grades 1-8, the the PFK course adheres to the National Qualifications Framework, meaning that some of the graded musical examinations can count as additional GCSEs or AS level qualifications in Music.
